Parallel Group Discussions

Research, policy and practice: what new spaces for exchange? | Room 105

Facilitated by Marcella Milana, University of Verona, European Society for Research on the Education of Adults (ESREA)

How can we turn the collaboration between research, policy and practice into a virtuous cycle, and learn from each other?

Join the discussion to exchange ideas on how EAEA and ESREA can improve their capacity-building to the benefit of staff working in adult learning practice, policy and research. We’re looking forward to hearing your suggestions on the topics that you would like to explore together, and training formats that you would find informative and engaging.

Gender equality in the adult learning sector: are we there yet? | Room 233

Facilitated by Angeliki Giannakopoulou, Project Coordinator, EAEA and Marina Sakač Hadžić, Communications and Capacity Building Officer, EAEA

Adult learning strives to promote social inclusion and gender equality in Europe. Is gender equality a reality within our sector?

Join the discussion, organised within the framework of the Gender Equality Task Force of EAEA, EARLALL and EfVET to reflect on gender disparities in adult learning organisations and the existing barriers to the profession: from teaching to management positions. You will also be invited to share inspiring examples of addressing gender equality from your own context.

European Education Area: only one year to go! | Room 130

Facilitated by Raffaela Kihrer, Deputy Secretary General and Head of Policy, EAEA

The European Education Area set out ambitious objectives, aiming at achieving universal access in the EU to quality education and training by 2025. What’s the state of the art of adult learning policy in our countries as of 2024?

Join the discussion to reflect on the implementation of the key actions of the European Education Area that relate to adult learning and education, such as Individual Learning Accounts and microcredentials.

Under pressure: (new) roles of adult educators | Room 139

Facilitated by Anna Skocz, STOP, Polish NGO Trainers’ Association, EAEA Executive Board

Adult educators are often expected to fulfil a multitude of tasks: facilitate, inform, support, motivate, innovate.

At the same time, their employment conditions are often far from easy, as many can only work part-time or are self-employed. What can adult learning organisations do to support educators in their daily work and encourage their professional growth while at the same time taking off some of the pressure to perform? Join this discussion to share your thoughts about the roles for adult educators and their wellbeing and support us in looking for solutions and option to improve the situation and the overall well-being of the educators.
